First edition of the italian translation (but there are 3 editions in the same year 1586) of this 'instant classic' in the history of the book of travels about the China. The work contains part of travel accounts by Augustine and Franciscan monks, and collects other sources; soon became the standard authority at the time. "The first, serious survey of China, it ran some 33 editions in Western Europe between 1585 and 1613. Its influence can be imagined" (Lust, n. 23). Palau 105504. Adams G-868.
